In 1949 the children of St Andrews School, Stanstead Abbotts, carried out a survey of the village and printed a detailed report.
The survey covered all domestic and everyday facts from transport through to how many flushing toilets there were.
The reports are in two parts. Part one is the survey and Part two a general history.
In 1923 Mr Woodhouse was the Postmaster in Stanstead Abbotts.
Mr Woodhouse wrote a report on the history of the village and we have a rare copy of his work.
Mr Woodhouse was born in 1883 and was the 6th child from a family of 9.
